Congratulations NATA Honors and Awards Recipients
Please join us in congratulating several MoATA members for receiving honors and awards at the national level. Awards recipients will be honored throughout the week at the National Athletic Trainers’ Associations’ Annual Meeting and Symposium in St. Louis held June 23-24th.Three athletic trainers from Missouri will be honored with the Athletic Training Service Award. John Donnell, Amy Schork, and Gary Ward will all be recognized for their outstanding services to the profession. The Athletic Trainer Service award recognizes NATA members for their contributions to the athletic training profession as a volunteer at the local and state levels. ATSA recipients have been involved in professional associations, community organizations, grassroots public relations efforts and service as a volunteer athletic trainer.David Carr will be recognized with the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Award. The Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer award recognizes NATA members who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to leadership, volunteer service, advocacy and distinguished professional activities as an athletic trainer.Carr, Schork, Ward, and Donnell will be recognized during the NATA General Session and Annual Members’ Meeting on Thursday June 25th from 3:00pm-4:00pm in AC Hall 5 following the conclusion of the NATA Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
Josh Thompson will receive the William T. Griffin Award for Outstanding Leadership in Legislative Advocacy. Josh will receive his award at the State Leadership Forum on Monday, and the scholarships are presented at the Pinky Newell Scholarship & Leadership Breakfast (Friday, June 25 at 8:30 a.m.).Thank you all for your dedication, services, and hard work to promote and advance the profession of athletic training in the state of Missouri!Several students from across the state will also be honored with NATA Foundation Scholarships. Undergraduate students from MO are Melissa Nienhuis of Central Methodist University, Erin Mittler of Missouri State University, and Sarah Snodgrass of Missouri Valley College. Graduate student scholarship recipient is Kelci Besand of Truman State University.Also, please plan to join us in representing MoATA during the MAATA-District V Meeting on Wednesday June 24th from 6:15pm-7:15pm in AC Ferrera Theatre.
