In Memoriam
The Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the friends and family of Dr. James T. Leslie, MD. The former team physician for Helias and Jefferson City High Schools passed away December 19th, 2018. Leslie graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1940. He was veteran of World War II. He began medical school at the University of Missouri and completed his degree at Louisiana State University. He then completed his orthopedic residency at Stanford University. Dr. Leslie also served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Leslie would return home to Missouri in 1960 with his family to take up permanent residence in Jefferson City. Dr. Leslie was instrumental in bringing orthopedics to Jefferson City by co-founding the city's first orthopedic practice, Bone and Joint Clinic. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Medicine Hall of Fame in 1987. Funeral services were held December 29, 2018 (Jefferson City).
