Karen Fennell MS, LAT, ATC

Karen D. Fennell, MS, LAT, ATC is currently the Chair of the NATA Council On Practice Advancement (COPA). The Private Practice & Emerging Settings Committee within COPA represents a super majority of the inquiries she receives from NATA members who are interested in starting their own business.

As the Director of Bracing Sales and Operations for Empire Med Group in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Karen leads a dedicated sales team across eight states to optimize bracing opportunities with our physician partners. During her career, Karen has worked in a variety of professional practice settings, including NCAA Division I and Division III, orthopedic surgeon physician practice, and owns a private consulting business focusing on physician practice business development.

She served the Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association in a variety of capacities, including 13 years on the Executive Committee. In District 2, she currently serves as the Chair of the Sponsorship Committee. Additionally, she has been the NATA Advisor to the American Medical Association CPT Panel since 2010.

Karen received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Illinois State University where she was mentored by three NATA Hall of Fame members. She has been a presenter at the local, state, district and national level on a variety of AT educational topics.
