Phillip Vardiman PhD, LAT, ATC
Dr. Vardiman is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Athletic Training Program at Kansas State University. He currently serves as the Vice President for the MAATA Board, as the Past-President for the State of Kansas and is the District 5 representative on the NATA’s Education Advancement Committee. Vardiman serves as the co-director of the Institute for the Health and Safety of Military Families in the college of Health and Human Sciences at Kansas State. He has coordinated the sports medicine support for the US Army’s Best Ranger and Best SAPPER competition teams with Soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas since 2015. In 2019, he received the 1st Infantry Division Distinguished Trooper Award for his work and service to the soldiers of Fort Riley. This work included standing up a remediated physical training program for soldiers on profile, The Fit Nation program continues at Fort Riley within the Irwin Army Community Hospital PT and OT unit. Vardiman is the Team Lead Athletic Trainer Spotter at Arrowhead Stadium for the National Football League and is a Football Medical Observer for the Big XII Conference. His research focus is the human response to exercise and therapeutic clinical interventions on muscle quality and physical performance measures. He enjoys spending time with his family, wife Bethany, and his daughters Rylie and Hailey.
